Fed: New doctor register could unleash unsafe doctors

Australia's peak medical body says a proposed national register for doctors would be unsafe and allow unauthorised doctors to get their hands on patients.
The state and federal governments are examining a plan for doctors' qualifications to be recognised across state borders.
The Australian Medical Association head Dr ROSANNA CAPOLINGUA believes doctors should oversee the accreditation of their peers .. not bureaucrats and administrators.
She says evidence of that was the appointment of an unaccredited doctor at a Bega hospital .. who was hired by the local area health service to replace disgraced former doctor GRAEME REEVES.
